Toys “R” Us to hire 40,000 employees for the holidays

The giant kids’ store chain, Toys “R” Us, is gearing up for the upcoming holiday season and today it announced plans to hire 40,000 seasonal workers.  That means the company reportedly will more than double its current workforce. Toys are still hot properties in Tinseltown. The offsprings of some notorious monsters are about to get the glitter and glam treatment from the creators of the hit TV shows, “Gossip Girl” and “The O.C.” Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage have signed on to write and produce a Universal project based on the popular Mattel toyline, Monster High, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Sewer pipe drama over Traffic and parking are back to normal in the 500 block of South Beachwood Drive in Burbank. I visited the site yesterday afternoon. The repair equipment was gone and the excavation site had been paved over. A very different scene from earlier this month, a few days after a pipe burst on Tuesday, November 2—spilling thousands of gallons of sewage into the street. The results of an investigation are in. Consumer News: Safety concerns about a hot holiday toy & a Burbank hospital is under investigation

 Are Zhu Zhu pets safe? Zhu Zhu pets, the robotic hamsters that talk and move, are at the top of a lot of wish lists this holiday season. Recently, a California-based consumer watchdog group’s website reportedly sparked a controversy when it claimed there is a potentially harmful level of metal in the Mr. Squiggles model. I haven’t been out browsing the toy stores lately, but I’ve heard about Elmo Live.
